Shop Systems

In the field of vehicle parts trade, the catalogue systems TecDoc (TecAlliance) and DVSE (Topmotive) have become established as the standard solution for the aftermarket.

Due to the high number of parts manufacturers to be fed in, a holistic database can be used instead of the heterogenous provision of the parts needed or product information by the manufacturers.

The ProKat system seizes these advantages and extends the range of functions by, in particular, an accurate parts identification including repair packages, motor oil determination, extensive details about the customer vehicle or, for example, standardisations of product information.

Accurate parts identification

The first approach to classifying parts of the aftermarket is a respective referencing to the vehicle or vehicles as with the TecDoc catalogue system, and to vehicles in connection with the respective engine (TecDoc KType). As the manufacturer key code/parts key code of the German Federal Office for Motor Vehicles (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt) also encodes at this level, two established ways of going about it are possible:  Navigation tree and the German Federal Office for Motor Vehicles manufacturer and parts key codes.

The shortlisting of the parts is subsequently done by the user depending on the subject and aftermarket brand by using criteria such as VIN areas, PR numbers, engine codes, etc.

In addition to that, the ProKat system provides an identification of aftermarket parts by stating the VIN and the accurate identification of the vehicle via the VIN enquiry or, as an alternative to that, by way of a context-sensitive system of further enquiries (Wizard), by means of which, depending on the subject, manufacturing times (intervals e.g. “as of 05/2015”), model details (e.g. the number of gears) or equipments are asked about. The primary identification of OE parts and the reference to the aftermarket is common in both approaches.

This results in a simpler selection of parts for your customers, whereby insecurities and multiple orders are pushed back.

The return rate can thus be reduced and customer satisfaction and with that sales can be increased.

Wear and tear issues

The ProKat system offers predefined repair packages for standard topics of wear and tear such as brakes, shock absorbers or toothed belts.

This way, all necessary parts, e.g. to change brakes of the front axle incl. discs, lining and, where necessary, sensors, can be found together and sold.

Landing-Pages

The repair packages can also be used for entering via landing pages. A combination with model types is particularly worthwhile: i.e. all in all e.g. “interior filter for your VW Golf”.

To this end, the ProKat system provides URL/URI-conform designations for manufacturers and ranges of models, resulting in URLs such www.your-address.de/skoda/octavia.

Motor oil

Besides the identification of parts, the ProKat system provides you with a source of information and determination logic also for the selection of the matching motor oil by way of determining oil specifications manufacturer approvals and viscosities. In this case equally, the vehicle is determined as accurately as possible via VIN enquiry and further enquiries.

Customer vehicle

By being connected to the ProKat system, you can enhance your customer areas and show the customers details about their vehicles. By using the VIN enquiry, equipment component details can be provided; upon knowledge of the Federal Office for Motor Vehicles key codes, also data about weight, tow bar load etc.

In combination with the repair packages, motor oil determination and available data, specifics offers can be made directly in the customer area, i.e. oil filter and motor oil or even the matching paint pen as per the manufacturer code.

Standardised product details

The ProKat data contained multi-level standardised and technically usable product data, e.g. cross-brand manufacturer approvals for oils, standardisations of product properties and expansion data. Extended product filters or presentations of the product details deviating from the standard can be implemented here.

Integration

The ProKat service and the underlying data can be used defensively without the necessity of in-depth systems conversions. The ProKat system sees itself as a source of information which can be called up if required.

In the figure, the assumption of an existing shop system is acted on comprising a frontend (with a basis e.g. Magento or Shopware; programming language PHP, ASP, Java etc.) and a substructure with master and variable data such as customer accounts, shopping baskets or orders (relational database, e.g. MySQL) and a parts catalogue with full text search (e.g. Elasticsearch).

The ProKat service is provided in SOAP standard and can thus easily be addressed in almost all available programming languages (PHP, Java, ASP, C# …). Basic information such as parts of the vehicle base can be provided in the shape of cyclic data exports, whereby a reference of order items to associated vehicles is made possible (relation).

Adaption

The ProKat system can be adapted to your needs and be expanded by your own data.

Besides subjects of simple allocation such as the import of manufacturers’ recognition of the aftermarket, the range can be aligned, i.e. irrelevant manufacturers or products can be deactivated, missing manufacturers can be added. Standardised imports are available even for manufacturers who do not feed into TecDoc or DVSE.
